webmaster info

Peter Zuck - is the webmaster for this site. Son of Donald Zuck of Saskatoon. I put together this website mainly for the edification of all the little Zuck's who have no connection to farming, the original homesteads, what life was like in the old days, or the story of their fore-fathers. I suppose the main impetus were, for one, my own ignorance of the family tree. As I have met some of the family at the odd wedding or funeral, but was never sure who they really were or how they fit in to the tree and their exact relationship to me.

Secondly, commonly hearing the lament; 'I am so overworked these days' which after reading of the by gone days, this will demonstrate that people of this day and age don't even know where work lives, much less are truly overwhelmed. Especially in comparison to the days when living many in a small shack, if you wanted to eat, you had to ctach it, kill it, clean it, find wood to cook it, and pump water to clean up afterwards. Or grow it, process it, etc. No phones, no stores save for maybe a trip a year, no running water, no refridgeration, no company, seven days a week chores, though Sundays were a considerablty lighter load.

I don't think my dad's generation realize the fact that what they did and lived through is beyond both the comprehension and abilities of present generations. I hope this will keep some of the stories and events alive. My dad was born and raised in horse draw, cleared with an ax days and now is living in times when exploring mars hardly raises an eyebrow. Amazing.

Let me take opportunity to beeseach relative to help me flesh out these extraordinary stories of days gone by so the grandchildren and great grandchildren will have a small glimmer of the genes they are made of. Cheers
