Bud enlisted in the spring of 1941 in the R.C.A.F. and trained as a wireless operator and air gunner. He received his wings on graduating and was assigned to the Ferry Command, operating out of Dorval Quebec and Nassau Bahamas, as a memeber of a bomber crew that ferried replacement bombers to the various war theatres. He was Discharged in 1945 with the rank of First Class Warrant Officer.
